Standing on this beautiful beach, I remember the moment that sparked the creation of Emerson Pearls. Frustrated with the swimwear options for girls, I found myself constantly tying hair elastics around my daughter's bathing suit straps and swim bottoms to make them fit. This was the tenth time she had asked, and it struck me—surely, I couldn't be the only one dealing with swimwear that just didn't fit properly and was impractical for active girls.

From running and exploring to sailing, surfing, swimming, and playing by the water, I knew there had to be a better girls' swimwear solution. I began drafting mock-ups of designs that I believed would be more functional and comfortable, offering multiple options because every kid is unique. We all know kids can be picky when it comes to swimwear and so I wanted to make sure to create swim separates that could be mixed and matched depending on what works best for each child. I created 3 different swim tops: a long-sleeve, cap sleeve, and tank. For swim bottoms, I created full coverage swim briefs and swim shorts. I collaborated with a skilled pattern maker to create prototypes, and my own children tested them, providing the most genuine feedback imaginable.

The design aesthetic was also an important factor. There is no reason to sacrifice style and fashion for comfort and practicality. I used bold, neon colors and high contrast designs for swim safety and for fun. Hot pink is known to be a color that stands out by the water and so that became our signature color with our initial launch of our girls' swimwear collection.

Little did I know, it would take two years of dedication and hard work to bring Emerson Pearls to market. Throughout this journey, I poured my heart and soul into each piece, determined to create girls' swimwear that is bold, sporty, and practical. You shouldn't have to sacrifice comfort for style.
